Maldives: New Trade Mark Legislation Ends Era of Cautionary Notices

The Maldives has enacted its first comprehensive trade mark legislation, replacing the long-standing practice of protecting marks through cautionary notices with a formal registration system. The Trademark Act (Law No. 19/2025) will enter into force on November 11, 2026.

Saudi Arabia Joins the Madrid Protocol

Saudi Arabia has joined the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks. The accession represents an important expansion of international trade mark protection in the Gulf region and means that all six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council can participate in the Madrid System.
